For the creatives and the unafraid,
the visionaries and the dreamers
daring to set themselves apart.
“BUT I HATE BEING
PHOTOGRAPHED”
I get it. I really do!
This is something I hear time and time again from my clients. The irony is that they think they are alone in that feeling, when in fact, I have rarely met anyone who feels the opposite.
Being in front of the camera is inherently vulnerable.
Most people don't enjoy being photographed. It can feel too exposing, and many hold a very real fear of not recognising themselves in the final portraits.
Some worry about not being good enough or even worthy of stepping in front of the camera.
All of those insecurities are fully understood here.
Together we will work with them to help you not only feel comfortable, but also to feel seen, heard and held, so hopefully, you’ll end up loving what we create together.
Every second is adjusted to fit who you are, and we move slowly and at your pace.
You leave with portraits you recognise. Images that hold your presence and reflect your personality the way you want it to, not the way you’ve been told you should.
THE APPROACH
More often than I like to think about, I’ve had clients come to me because their previous experiences with photography felt unsettling, conveyor-belt-like, and even straight-up diminishing.
Knowing the impact that can have on your confidence, I decided to build my entire approach around making sure that every single one of my clients gets the consideration they deserve.
Each session is tailored to fit you; not a one-size-fits-all solution. I do not want to push you into a box that feels deeply uncomfortable and like you aren’t supposed to be in it. Instead, I build one to your exact measurements so that your unique personality may shine in its full force.
I only take on a handful of clients each month to ensure that the attention to detail, the love and the care don’t slip, and that the final portraits will be everything you want, as well as everything you didn’t know you needed.
Meet me in my town of Älmhult, Sweden, or in the Copenhagen area of Denmark. I am also open to travelling internationally; just ask, and we will make it happen.
“Sissela photographs like a mirror of the soul — capturing how I feel when I am alone, without worrying about how I appear or what others might think.
I have never thought of myself as beautiful in the conventional sense. What Sissela sees, and what she makes visible, is something else entirely: the strength, the intensity, the wildness. She doesn’t try to soften it, tame it, or make it more palatable. She allows it to exist fully, honestly, and with dignity.
From the very first time Sissela photographed me, she truly saw me. She has an extraordinary ability to tune into the way I look at the world, and she made me feel so calm in front of the camera that I completely forgot it was even there.
I don’t consider myself photogenic, but in her images, I feel the love I have for myself. What she creates is truly unique. She sees the human being and highlights the beauty that exists simply in being who we are.”

ABOUT
I'm Sissela, a Danish-born, Sweden-based portrait photographer with over 15 years of experience working across Europe and the United States. Now, I work in my town of Älmhult, as well as in Copenhagen, Denmark, and all across Europe for Destination Portrait Sessions.
I began my career as a model, and this gave me an early understanding of how powerful it can be to see yourself through the extension of a camera lens. If done right, worries and insecurities are allowed to fall away, leaving room to expose your full self.
That perspective continues to shape how I work today, with care, presence, and deep respect for the people I photograph.
My work is for individuals, creatives, and professionals who value honesty, depth, and intention. I photograph on location, in spaces that feel meaningful and natural, allowing each session to unfold exactly as they should, which is never the same as the session that came before.
Together, we create portraits that feel personal, grounded, and completely true to you
“I booked the shoot for a practical reasons, but what happened that day was more than a photoshoot.
This year held a lot of change. Stepping in front of a camera in the middle of that felt… tender. Like standing in daylight without armour.
What made it not only possible but genuinely beautiful was Sissela’s presence.
She has a rare gift for holding space - calm, grounded, deeply respectful. With her, I could soften. I could breathe. I could stop performing and simply be. I didn’t feel “posed.” I felt seen.
So if you’re in a new chapter - or if you’re longing for photos that capture not just how you look, but something true about who you are - I wholeheartedly recommend reaching out to Sissela."

THE PROCESS
-
We start here. You book a short Discovery Call with me, and we find out how I might help you best and see if we’re a good fit. This is essential to establish the trust and connection that it takes to create portraits that are truly authentic to you.
This is where your Consultation and Portrait Session are booked. -
This part is vital. Here we talk about what truly matters. What feels difficult. What you want the session outcome to be. What you need and what you dream of. I listen and get to know you further, so when the time for the session comes, I know how best to create something truly magical with you. It is also where we plan, design, and arrange everything from what to wear to where we want to go.
-
It is time to create. We meet where we have chosen to. Start with a nice warmup conversation and then dive deep.
I don’t have a time limit since I want you to feel completely at ease to be as comfortable or uncomfortable as you need. Quality takes time so there’s no rushing it. We capture everything you want and everything you didn't know you need. -
After your session I cull your images and select the absolute best from our day together. Then we meet in person or on Zoom and here you will see your portraits for the first time. I help guide you while you select your favourites.
This is where you decide which ones you want to keep and whether or not, you want to upgrade to a printed one collection. -
Once your final portraits have been paid, I start editing. This can take up to 3 weeks depending on time of year, workload and other factors.
I’ll send them over through an email with a Swisstransfer link and if you’ve decided that you want prints, you give the final approval for me to order your products.
