A few thoughts to help you feel grounded and ready

Come as you are

There's no pressure to perform or be perfect here. This session is about presence, not perfection. You don't need to "do" anything special. Just bring yourself. That's more than enough.

Skin and self-care

You don't need to wear makeup unless you want to. What matters most is that you feel comfortable in your skin.

In the days leading up to your session, drink water, moisturise, and rest if you can. A little extra care goes a long way, not to perfect anything, but to feel more at home in your body when we photograph. No need to overdo it. Just be gentle with yourself.

What to wear

Choose clothes that feel like you. Think texture, movement, layers, comfort. If you're unsure, bring a few options, and we'll decide together.

Colours that work especially well: earth tones and jewel tones. Deep greens, burnt sienna, ochre, plum, rust, turmeric, navy, sand, charcoal, moss. They bring warmth and depth without overpowering. This is about you, after all.

Try to avoid loud patterns, logos, or anything that feels too tight or too far from your everyday self. Unless bold is your natural state, in which case, go for it.

Bare feet are always welcome. So are oversized knits, flowing fabrics, anything you can breathe in. Natural textures photograph beautifully. Shoes rarely make an appearance, though we can always talk about them.

The day of

Give yourself some space if you can. You don't need to rush from something else. Eat something delicious. Hydrate. Take a breath and let yourself arrive.

If we're shooting in your home, please don't stress about making it look perfect. A lived-in space is a beautiful space. We'll move things around if we need to.

If we're meeting on location, bring layers and comfortable shoes. We might walk a bit, or sit somewhere that doesn't look like much until the light hits it just right.

What to bring

You don't need to bring anything unless we've talked about it. But if something feels meaningful, a piece of clothing, an object, a book, jewellery, bring it along. I especially love when people bring heirlooms. It anchors your portraits in your history, and there's something really beautiful about that.

Nerves are normal

Feeling a little nervous is completely normal. Most people do, and it usually fades within the first few minutes. You don't need to know how to pose. I'll guide you through everything. And by the time we meet, I won't be a stranger.
